Accessibility

Using my past knowledge as an accessibility lead, I audited all user facing pages on the platform. I discovered that there was knowledge gap on how to build with accessibility as a core consideration. To close that gap, I created a set of company guidelines, as well as holding specialized training sessions for the product, QA, and engineering teams.

Complex ≠ Confusing

Nonprofits needed a form builder that support complex eligibility logic and a high level of customization. I designed modular components and smart defaults to make it easy to set up a new form – resulting in a 5x increase in adoption.

Hidden Needs

A self-serve form builder was planned, but the scope of work didn’t address the root cause of high user drop-offs: unmet needs. I used user quotes and data to tell a compelling story to leadership about the need to change focus.

Understanding Needs In the Field

I researched the needs of our customer through user observation, in depth interviews, and competitive analysis. I worked with a social worker and a group of users to tell a story about how this project fits into a wider product vision.

Starting From the Right Questions

For nonprofits, funding comes with detailed tracking requirements written to benefit data analysis, but every minute Case Managers spent doing data entry was a minute they weren’t working with clients. I reframed the problem statement: “What tools would help case managers and people they serve – and collect great data along the way.
